Many thanks to Andrei, a participant of the Stonewall ride, for bringing this to my attention. There is an alternative to ear buds for musical enjoyment while riding!! A new iPod speaker system has been created just for bikes and he believes they are available in Winnipeg at Winners for approximately $40.00 (this info has not been confirmed).

Thanks for the post! I picked up the last 2 at Winners on west Portage Ave....had them marked down to $29.00! They work GREAT for those not wanting to totally block out surrounding noise and ability to hear traffic
Thank you so much for this suggestion. I picked one up at Winners on my way home from work on Friday the 22nd, and it was the best investment EVER!! It kept many a cycler entertained at various points in my ride this weekend.
